What "proprietary blend" is really hiding.

It's the most common two words on Indian supplement labels — and the biggest reason not to trust most of them. Here's the trick, and how to see through it.
What it means
A "proprietary blend" lists several ingredients under one total weight — "Sleep Blend 1,200mg" — without telling you how much of each. It's legal, and the easiest way to look impressive while under-delivering.
Why it should worry you
Clinical doses are specific: magnesium ~250mg elemental, KSM-66 300–600mg, glycine 3g. Inside a blend, a brand can put a "fairy dusting" of the marketed ingredient and pad the rest with cheap filler. The label still names the good stuff; you never get an effective dose.
How to read a label that hides the numbers
- No mg next to each ingredient? That's the tell.
- Ingredient order — blends list by weight; a hero ingredient near the end is barely there.
- "Elemental" matters for minerals. More →
- If you can't verify it, don't trust it.
